A Night Stay At North Shore Inn and A Day Visit at Playa Tropical | Currimao, Ilocos Norte | December 30, 2019

In December 30, 2019, on our third day travelling, we left Vigan, Ilocos Sur in the morning and continued driving until we reached Currimao, Ilocos Norte.

(Click this to read about our Vigan trip.)

We travel on a budget so we try to stick to it especially when choosing accommodation. And this time, we found a place that is in our budget yet still a relaxing place to stay. It is called North Shore Inn. I must say I like the location especially it is next to a nice Resort-Hotel, which we tried for a day swim, the Playa Tropical Resort Hotel.

This blog is about our stay at North Shore Inn and our Day Tour at Playa Tropical.

++ What we liked most about this is the nice and wide outdoor area and the beach. The kids played ball, run around and had so much fun. The view is clean and relaxing. This is where I took my most recent Facebook profile photo. The beach is perfect for the kids to play and swim. The water is not cold so they swam all morning before we checked out.

Many locals were swimming in the beach but it was not crowded so it was still enjoyable.

– What could improve are their rooms and the restaurant. We were told that the owner has plans to do total renovation this year so our complaints about the room could soon be improved. Like the smell of the first room given to us – ahhh it was disgusting! Staffs had to move us to another room, which was somehow better. The rooms looked old but the beds were still comfortable and there was hot shower so it was still okay for Php2000. Rooms came with breakfast for two by the way. I am talking about basic hotdog and egg and rice, plus the instant 3in1 coffee. By the way, we requested to have breakfast outside to enjoy the sight and sunlight. However, the food served was disappointing. Rice wasn’t cooked properly and it was because their cook / chef didn’t come to work and one of the hotel staffs cooked our food and she had no idea how to do it. She could have told us and I could have cooked our breakfast.

– The restaurant closes at 6:00pm so you will have to go out and eat out if you want to have dinner later than 6. Your options could be eat at the resort hotel (Tropical Playa) next to it or go to 7-eleven or some eateries nearby, 5 to 10 minute drive.

FYI, here are the room rates and other services they have:

  • Standard King (2 persons) Php2, 800 with one king bed
  • Deluxe King (4 persons) Php3, 000 with one king bed
  • Double Standard King [4 persons) Php3, 500 with two king beds

Additional Guest costs Php300 per room (children 10 and under free)

  • Kubo is Php500 for 3 hours and overnight is Php1, 000 good for 10pax including shower

Since we already booked a room next door (which is way cheaper than this place), we decided to have a day tour here to experience what’s inside.

The room rates are:

*Casal Pool Villa – Php14, 000 (good for 5 persons with breakfast for 5)

*Deluxe King – Php4, 250 (good for two persons with breakfast for 2)

*Deluxe Double – Php4, 250 (good for 4 persons with breakfast for 2)

*Royal Suite – Php6, 500 (good for two persons with breakfast for 2)

For Day Tour:

*Entrance Fee – Php100 per person (Php50 is consumable at the restaurant)

*Swimming Adult – Php250 per person (Php50 is consumable at the restaurant)

*Swimming Child – Php200 per person (Php50 is consumable at the restaurant)

Good thing they have day tours so we did not have to spend much on the rooms and still got the chance to experience the place.

  • The view, the infinity pool, the beach and cottages look exceptional. Picture perfect scenery!
  • The food is quite pricey but the service was good. I did like the Crispy Dinuguan.
  • The restaurant staff who served us and the receptionists were all very friendly and accommodating.

I cannot say much other than that because we only had a day swim and lunch. Probably next time we will try their rooms and see what my story about it will be like.
