How to pray? What to pray? Who do we pray for?
Yesterday’s sermon during the worship service that I attended in UCCP Samal Bataan, delivered by my uncle Jojo, was all about “prayer”. The favorite lesson or reminder I acquired from the topic is that “Prayer must have CONFIDENCE and PERSISTENCE.” Manalangin ng may pagtitiwala at pagtitiyaga!
I always encourage my loved ones to pray. To be honest, our world now is scary and it is even getting worse. Criminals are just everywhere. You cannot even tell, baka nga katabi o katrabaho mo, may binabalak ng masama laban sa’yo. We cannot blame ourselves if we worry most of the time. Dagdag pa the difficult situations that come our way – the death of loved ones, sickness, families being broken, ang pinaka common na financial problem, and many more. Mentioning all these, how can we be confident in life after all?
Easy. By adding PRAYER to our To-do-list, our daily habit, by putting it in our system.
Life will never be easy. Pero kung puro reklamo naman tayo, makakagaan ba sa bigat na dinadala mo? When challenges arise, try prayer. Tiyagaan mo. He is listening, sigurado. Nowadays, you may find it difficult to trust, but no matter what, I keep in mind that HE is listening naman to every prayer. That is how and where I draw my confidence.
When you begin your day with a prayer, it’s a great start. Langhapin ang pagiging positive. Isabuhay ang pagiging positive. And you will feel well. You will do well. Practice it every day and it will be part of your system.
HOW TO PRAY?
It isn’t that hard. It doesn’t have to be long. It doesn’t have to be too serious. Pwede mong kausapin ang Diyos na parang BFF mo lang. Don’t be shy, come on, just try.
WHAT TO PRAY?
Pray for your daily needs. Yes, daily, we need safety, we need love, we need food to survive, we need a job, and many to mention. Pray for what you really need. Libre din mangarap at ipagdasal ang mga pangarap. But anything too much is bad. Especially if you do not share that much.
WHO DO WE PRAY FOR?
I have tried a practice that has been giving me inner joy – that is to pray also for other people. Include others in your prayer. (Whether they are aware or not that you are praying for them) Make it a habit and you will feel inner peace. When somebody asks you to pray for them, do so. It is powerful and very uplifting. I know you yourself are fighting your own battle. But imagine if we start praying for each other, it only shows love and genuine care. Put in mind na kapag pinagdarasal natin ang isa’t isa, lalo pa nating maeenjoy ang bawat pagpapala. (Eware, kanyaman king pakiramdam ning mipapangade?)
P.S. Feel free to message me for prayer requests.
